Accessibility
We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever device or assistive technology you use.
Our aim
We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement covers the whole of fernpainting.co.uk.
What we have done
- Text and buttons have strong colour contrast. The colour pairs we use meet the AA minimum of 4.5:1.
- You can use the whole site with a keyboard. There is a “Skip to content” link, the mobile menu is a real button, and the photo viewer on the gallery page opens and closes with the keyboard (Escape closes it).
- Pages use a clear heading structure, descriptive link text and a language setting, so screen readers can navigate them.
- The home page hero image changes slowly. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animation is turned off.
- Text resizes and the layout adapts to small screens without needing sideways scrolling.
Known limitations
- The contact and quote form is a Google Form embedded in the contact page. Google controls how accessible the form is. If you find it difficult, email or phone us and we will take your details another way.
- The map on the contact page is a Google Map. Our address is also written out in text on that page and in the footer.
- The gallery photos currently have simple numbered descriptions rather than detailed descriptions of each job.
- The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so there may be problems we have not found.
Tell us about a problem
If you find something difficult to use, or need information in a different format, please email hello@fernpainting.co.uk or call 07946 545533. Tell us the page and what went wrong, and we will aim to reply within 5 working days.
If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
Ongoing work
We review the site as it changes and fix areas that fall short. This statement was prepared on 3 November 2026.
