Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies this website uses and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website or a service it uses stores in your browser. Some are essential for a site to work. Others, such as analytics cookies, help the site owner understand how the site is used.
Our approach
This website does not use advertising, social media tracking or session-recording tools. The only cookies are from Google services that the site uses, described below. The Google Analytics cookies are stored under this website’s own address (fernpainting.co.uk), but they are created and read by Google Analytics.
Please note: at the moment this site does not show a cookie banner, and Google Analytics runs when you visit a page. We are replacing this with a consent tool, built on Cloudflare Zaraz, so that analytics only runs if you agree. Until that is in place, you can block analytics yourself using the options in “Controlling cookies” below.
The cookies and similar technologies we use
| Name or service | Set by | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors so we can count visits and see which pages are used. | Up to 2 years |
_ga_EYB3BTFB4P | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your visit (session) so pages and visits can be counted. | Up to 2 years |
| Google Form (contact page) | The form is embedded from Google. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies to provide and secure it. | Set by Google | |
| Google Map (contact page) | The map is embedded from Google. Google may set cookies when it loads. | Set by Google |
The site also loads its fonts from Google Fonts. This does not set cookies, but your browser sends your IP address to Google to fetch the font files. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, handles your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site, but we do not use it to set tracking cookies.
Controlling cookies
- In your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking cookies may stop some embedded features, such as the form, from working.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Google provides a browser add-on that stops Analytics collecting data about your visits: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. You can use browser or extension settings that block trackers.
